Reconciliation

The sacrament of Reconciliation is also known as Penance and Confession. In this sacrament, the priest, as the agent of God, forgives sins committed after Baptism, when the sinner is heartily sorry for them, sincerely confesses them, and is willing to make satisfaction for them. By his death on the Cross, Jesus Christ redeemed man from sin and from the consequences of his sin, especially from the eternal death that is sin's due. On the very day he rose from the dead, Jesus instituted this sacrament by which men's sins could be forgiven.

At Saint Raphael Parish, Reconciliation is scheduled Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 6:45pm, and Saturdays from 3:00pm to 3:30pm (Thanksgiving to Easter) and 4:00pm to 4:30pm (Easter to Thanksgiving), or by appointment with Father Donley (412.661.3100 x128).

Children who are in second grade and have attended Faith Formation in first grade are preparing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. All children need to meet the criteria of two years of catechesis prior to receiving a Sacrament. There are mandatory parent meetings prior to receiving each of the Sacraments. The parent meeting for First Eucharist is included during a Morning of Reflection for both children and parents. All dates are given at the beginning of the Catechetical year in September. If you are a parent of a child looking to make their First Reconciliation, please contact the parish office for more information.
