Bullying can be defined as repeated (three or more) and systematic harassment and attacks on others. Bullying can be perpetrated by individuals or groups and takes many forms.
Bullying is an issue Saint Raphael School does not take lightly. St. Raphael has implemented the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program which is designed for school age children. All students participate in most aspects of the program and have weekly meetings to discuss bullying within their classroom. Along with the Olweus Bullying Program our students participate in our Kids 4 Jesus Program that teaches them to live through virtue and allows them to grow their love in their Catholic Faith.
The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program is designed to improve peer relations and make schools safer, more positive places for students to learn and develop. The goals of the program include:
- reducing existing bullying problems among students
- preventing the development of new bullying problems
- achieving better peer relations at school
